A Visit to the George Washington University Museum and Textile Museum
with Tracy Meserve
The Arthur D. Jenkins Library is the non-circulating textile arts library of The George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum. In support of the work of the museum, the library’s mission is to foster and facilitate the creation of textile arts knowledge by collecting and making accessible resources on the cultural, social, political, technical, and economic importance of textiles in human history. Join us for a tour of this unique research library as well as a guided tour of their current exhibit, Irresistible: The Global Patterns of Ikat.
Tracy Meserve is the librarian for the museum’s Arthur D. Jenkins Library. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from GW and a master’s in library science from the University of Maryland. Meserve formerly served as youth services manager at the Alexandria Public Library, a librarian at D.C. Public Library and a publications assistant at the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
Because of space considerations, this event is limited to 20 attendees with priority for dues-paying members of WRBG. To reserve a spot, please RSVP below by Tuesday, March 26th.
Directions: While limited 2-hour street parking is available, we encourage you to use public transportation. The museum is located four blocks from the Foggy Bottom-GWU Metro Station (Blue, Orange and Silver lines), a 15-minute walk from the Farragut North Station (Red line) and is also near many bus lines. More information is available here.
We hope you will join us!
