A tour of the George Washington Presidential Library at Mount Vernon

with Dana Stefanelli

The George Washington Presidential Library at Mount Vernon is a resource for scholars, students, and all those interested in George Washington, colonial America, and the Revolutionary and founding eras. Tour the special collections of the George Washington Presidential Library with the Curator of Special Collections, who will discuss books George Washington’s acquired during his life and how Mount Vernon is working to collect Washington’s original volumes and matching editions to reassemble his personal library.

Dana Stefanelli is the Curator of Special Collections at the George Washington Presidential Library at Mount Vernon, where his responsibilities include the acquisition and preservation of books and documents created prior to 1900. Previously, he was the Assistant Editor of the Papers of George Washington stationed at the Washington Library. He has a Ph.D. in history from the University of Virginia, has taught at various Virginia colleges, and his publications include articles and book chapters on the history of Washington, D.C., and on American political and economic history. Prior to joining the historical profession, he served as a legislative aide on Capitol Hill.

There will be a Q&A session at the end of the talk.

Because of space considerations, this event is limited to 15 attendees with priority for dues-paying members of WRBG. To reserve a spot, please RSVP below by Wednesday, November 8th.

 

Parking and Directions:

Attendees should park in the West Lot (P2 on the map below), and use the pedestrian gate (G4) to approach the library. Note that you will need to walk around the building to access the main entrance (marked with an x below).
