WRBG April In-Person Event: Behind-the-Scenes Tour of the Renovated Folger Library

April 24

Free

The Washington Rare Book Group invites you to join us for

A Behind-the-Scenes Tour of the Renovated Folger Shakespeare Library

with Michele Silverman and Greg Prickman

The Folger Shakespeare Library’s collections, including 15th- through 18th-century rare books and manuscripts, editions of Shakespeare’s plays, materials related to art, performance, and theatrical history through the 20th-century, 19th-century scholarship of Shakespeare and his contemporaries, and Shakespeare-related ephemera, all support a wide variety of research and inquiry. After a multi-year renovation project, the Folger Library is preparing for an exciting reopening in June of 2024. Join us for a guided, “work-in-progress” tour of their new exhibit spaces and see what’s in store for the reopening this summer!

Michele Lee Silverman is the Louis B. Thalheimer Associate Librarian for Researcher Services. Prior to coming to the Folger Michele held positions at the Society of the Cincinnati as well as Mount Vernon.

Greg Prickman was appointed the Eric Weinmann Librarian and Director of Collections and Exhibitions in July 2018. Previously he was head of Special Collections at the University of Iowa Libraries.

Due to space considerations, this event is limited to 30 attendees with priority for dues-paying members of WRBG. We will split into two groups of 15 and will have two tour start times: 12:00pm and 12:45pm.

Please arrive ON TIME for your tour and bring as little with you as possible. All bags will need to be checked before the tour can begin.

For security purposes, we need to provide a list of attendees before the day of the event, so please register in advance. To reserve a spot for one of the tour times, please RSVP below by Monday, April 22nd.

Directions: The Folger does not have a visitor parking lot, and only limited street parking is available in the surrounding area. We recommend taking public transportation.

We will assemble outside on second street near the magnolia tree.

We hope you will join us!
